Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. Feminist Frequency provides videos, comments and an analysis of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are represented in the popular culture. Dispelling stereotypes of women is the main goals of her work. But, she also highlights issues related to specific harassment of women on the internet and for other groups who have been excluded. Sarkeesian also holds a York University master's in social, political and philosophical thought. Alongside being a well-known public speaker, she's given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Conference and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by the gender issue and feminist movements at a young age. When she graduated in 2009, continuing to study at the university level she launched the Feminist Frequency website. As of 2009, this ebullient young lady was harassed by the Internet for starting a web featuring a series about gender and videogames. The attack wasn't enough to stop her. Instead, it strengthened her commitment to be a feminist as well as media critique. Numerous awards have been given to her in recognition of her contributions to the field she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and founded Feminist Frequency. This educational non-profit explores the role of women in pop culture narratives.
